Dear Members of the Plan Commission,
I am writing to strongly oppose the proposed changes to Wauwatosa’s municipal code that would allow the Zoning Administrator to approve Final Planned Unit Developments (PUDs) without a public hearing.
This proposal strips away the public’s right to participate in decisions that affect our neighborhoods and hands significant power to an unelected city staff member. That is unacceptable.
Final PUDs can reshape communities—affecting traffic, density, infrastructure, and quality of life. These decisions must remain in the hands of our elected officials, with full transparency and public input. Eliminating the hearing process and bypassing Council review shuts residents out of decisions that directly impact them.
I urge you to reject this attempt to sideline the public. Streamlining the process should not come at the cost of accountability and democratic oversight. Wauwatosa deserves better.
