5. 26-0010 Public Hearing for a Conditional Use Permit for a 24-hour laundromat in the Neighborhood Village Trade/North Avenue Overlay (C1/NOR) zone at 7105 W. North Avenue, Chris Doerner, applicant
My family and I are opposed to the proposed 24-hour laundromat. This area of Wauwatosa is a residential neighborhood that typically winds down by 9:00 p.m. Introducing a business that operates around the clock is inconsistent with the established character of the neighborhood and the expectations of nearby residents. A 24-hour operation raises legitimate concerns regarding loitering, noise, and other secondary impacts that could negatively affect neighborhood safety and overall quality of life. For these reasons, we respectfully urge decision-makers to consider the compatibility of this proposal with the surrounding community. If this proposal were to move forward, we do feel like the hours should be limited, closing around 9 pm or 10 pm.
My husband and I are in opposition of the proposed 24 hour laundromat at 7105 W North Ave. We do not feel a business operating 24 hours is appropriate for our neighborhood. We have serious concerns regarding noise, increased traffic and loitering during late-night and early-morning hours. These impacts would significantly disrupt peace, safety and the quality of life for nearby residents. Extended hours may attract non-local traffic at times when the neighborhood expects quiet and security. This could place unnecessary strain on our already busy police department and create safety concerns for residents of the area. Property values may also be negatively affected by constant activity and disturbances. We feel the hours should be limited from 0600-2300 (6 AM- 11 PM). As my father always said, nothing good happens after midnight. Thank you for your consideration.
