4. 25-1589 Consideration of request by Director of Public Works to authorize staff to enter into a construction management services agreement for the renovation of the Library & City Hall facility to CG Schmidt in the amount of $69,200
I oppose authorizing this $69,200 contract at this time. Wauwatosa residents are already facing steep property-tax increases and difficult budget choices. Moving ahead with pre-construction services for a Library/City Hall expansion project that has no approved construction budget is premature and sends the wrong signal about priorities.
The City has not provided a clear fiscal risk analysis, long-term debt impact, or operational cost plan. Locking into a “Construction Manager at Risk” model now ties us to escalating commitments before residents have had a genuine chance to weigh in. With core services and public trust under strain, this is not the time to advance another consultant contract.
